Sonya Fu digitale art

Sonya Fu digitale art, spleen art – Visual artist from Hong Kong

« Art is a powerful visual language and creating art is a calming and therapeutic process. I would like to share with people my dreamscape, its beauty and its oddity. It might be an eerie creature, a whimsical scenery or a disturbed beauty who speaks words of wisdom – they are all embodiments of my subconscious mind. If my work manages to stir emotions and provoke thoughts, then I am doing the right thing as an artist – creating and conveying emotion. » says Fu.

Sarah Louise Davey – Buttercup sculpture

Disturbing beautiful sculptures by Sarah Louise Davey are painted ceramic, embodying creatures with tortured, glazed stares, and strange growths either covering their eyes or framing them like sick, rotten petals of flesh carved out around an astonishingly open iris. They look like paintings on porcelain, and the bold, dark lines sketching their features out against the chalky whiteness of the ceramic hold a horrific and fascinating quality.

Kris Kuksi - Dharma Bovine - sculpture

A post-industrial Rococo master, Kris Kuksi obsessively arranges characters and architecture in asymmetric compositions with an exquisite sense of drama. Instead of stones and shells he uses screaming plastic soldiers, miniature engine blocks, towering spires and assorted debris to form his landscapes.
The political, spiritual and material conflict within these shrines is enacted under the calm gaze of remote deities and august statuary. Kuksi manages to evoke, at once, a sanctum and a mausoleum for our suffocated spirit.

Christian Noorbergen

Olivier de Sagazan – Macabre sculptures

For more than 20 years, Olivier de Sagazan has developed a hybrid practice that integrates painting, photography, sculpture, and performance. In his existential performative series Transfiguration, which he began in 2001, de Sagazan builds layers of clay and paint onto his own face and body to transform, disfigure and take apart his own figure, revealing an animalistic human who is seeking to break away from the physical world. At once disquieting and deeply moving, this new body of work collapses the boundaries between the physical, intellectual, spiritual and animalistic senses. The artist states: “I am interested in seeing to what degree people think its normal, or even trite, to be alive.” Olivier de Sagazan has exhibited widely in France and Europe,Canada, Brésil Corée in art galleries, museums, and film festivals. With an almost cult following online, and rave reviews about his expressive and inimitable style, it is no wonder de Sagazan’s remarkable “body art” work is featured in the non-verbal film Samsara, the Sequel to Baraka, directed by Ron Fricke.

Francesco Albano graduated from Fine Art University of Carrara in 2000 and won the National Prize of Arts – MIUR for sculpture in 2005. He had his first solo show titled ‘Everyday Bestiary’ in Milan in 2008 and second solo show titled ‘Five Easy Piece’ at Ex Marmi Gallery in Pietrasanta in 2009. In 2011, his works were exhibited in group shows titled ‘The State of Art, Tese di San Cristoforo, Arsenale’ in Venice concurrent with Venice Biennial and ‘P.I.E.T.A.S.’ at Studio 9 in Istanbul.

Check out Albano’s skincentric sculptures below, which transform our banal bodysuits into a glorious labyrinth of cellulite and wrinkles. Monstrous, animal and human, the works prove that skin is at its most fascinating when delivered raw.

Sculptures hyper-realiste macabre
