Kerry Mosley – Heart – Mixed media Textile Artist

Using a combination of hand knit and machine stitch I create pictures, portraits and patterns according to my current fascination..
I enjoy making decorative and aesthetically pleasing textiles.  I love to experiment with unusual techniques and materials, exploiting their contrasting tactile and visual qualities.

Carisa Swenson – The Mouse King – detail

Carisa Swenson’s passion for creating curious creatures springs from many sources—a love of Greek mythology and Ray Harryhausen’s creations when she was a child, an appreciative eye for Henson Workshop in her teens, to the weird and wonderful films of Jan Svankmajer and The Brothers Quay in her twenties. But when Carisa studied with world-renowned doll artist Wendy Froud, the final die was cast: posable dolls would forever own her soul and trouble her nights, stirring her with a fervor that could only be quelled by stitching and sculpting her dreams into reality. Since 2006 Carisa’s work has been featured in several exhibitions and publications, including the Melbourne Fringe Festival, NYU’s acclaimed annual “Small Works Show”, Art Doll Quarterly, and Spectrum 17. Carisa has an unhealthy obsession with rabbits and rabbit tales which she blames squarely on “Watership Down”. Both the book and the movie. Especially the movie.

Hyper realiste trophée sculptures

Hyper realiste trophée sculptures – Ruth Collett was born in Knutsford, Cheshire and moved to London to study at Wimbledon School of Art where she received a BA (Hons) in Technical Arts. She now lives in Hampshire where she can usually be found in her second home – the shed! It is here that she creates her fabulous sculptures and between projects also inserts hair for the world-famous Madam Tussauds.
Ruth is very much inspired by great artists such as Ron Mueck and Franz Messserschmidt and this led her to creating her humorous character heads where expression has an important role. She is very much looking forward to extending this unusual family tree !

Steampunk sculptures by Jessica Joslin

Steampunk sculptures by Jessica Joslin / “Millennial Gepetto Jessica Joslin spends most of her days at a Victorian watchmaker’s desk, building a menagerie out of brass and bone. She is an unabashed science nerd, antique hardware fetishist and power tool connoisseur. Known associates with the same last name include: husband Jared Joslin, a brilliant painter of dames and dreams and brother in law Russell Joslin, an incisive photographer of personae and the editor of Shots Magazine.”

Her love of animals and their form, combined with a preoccupation with an imminent future where technology and biology are intimately combined, led her to create her ongoing series of modified animals.
By creating beauty within this supposed paradox, she challenges the concept of a world separated into the ‘sacrosanct’ natural and ‘vulgar’ industrial.

Francesco Albano – THE AGE OF GAMES HAS GONE – hyperrealiste sculpture

Francesco Albano graduated from Fine Art University of Carrara in 2000 and won the National Prize of Arts – MIUR for sculpture in 2005. He had his first solo show titled ‘Everyday Bestiary’ in Milan in 2008 and second solo show titled ‘Five Easy Piece’ at Ex Marmi Gallery in Pietrasanta in 2009. In 2011, his works were exhibited in group shows titled ‘The State of Art, Tese di San Cristoforo, Arsenale’ in Venice concurrent with Venice Biennial and ‘P.I.E.T.A.S.’ at Studio 9 in Istanbul.

Check out Albano’s skincentric sculptures below, which transform our banal bodysuits into a glorious labyrinth of cellulite and wrinkles. Monstrous, animal and human, the works prove that skin is at its most fascinating when delivered raw.
