Son univers personnel se développe dans des œuvres où l’humain, l’objet, l’animal, le végétal se croisent dans une poétique de l’entre-deux et du devenir.
Nourrie de littérature, Armelle Blary recourt volontiers aux mythes anciens. Elle puise dans les récits de métamorphose matière à produire des formes inédites qui embrassent dans une même énergie le vivant et le perdu. Le prétexte poétique devenant ainsi le moyen privilégié d’une réflexion sur le désir, la mort, l’amour, la foi…

Dans son travail, l’artiste se met à l’ouvrage en nous proposant des installations de textiles blancs. Coutures et broderies se dévoilent au fil d’un parcours conçu de volumes intrigants. Le blanc donne le ton et apporte aux formes la douceur et la fluidité que la subtilité des matières accentue. Dans ce monde, l’intimité et le silence sont de mise.
Mais le songe bascule lorsque l’on contemple de plus près ces figures. Les formes, de plus en plus inquiétantes, sont suspendues, errantes ou encore pour certaines, enfermées et lovées dans des cages de tissus.

Paul Toupet is a designer who was born in 1979 in Paris. Trained at the famous Penninghen art school and at the Workshop of Fine-Arts of Glacière in Paris, Paul Toupet has worked on the theme of human representation since 1996.Since May 1999, he displays his very particular and resolutely modern “Wax Puppets”: nucleated eyes, mouths vomiting braids, dressed in torn tissue or feathers, at a human or a child scale…
His art sometimes evokes childhood, sometimes mummies, the charred bodies of Pompeii, it revisits African art or religious art. The work of Paul Toupet is the fruit of multiple influences which are mixed and embezzle to create a poetic or provocating , a peaceful or scary world, according to the spectator’s gaze.
He is inspired by this artificial creature which have many anatomics possibilities. His work aims at transcribing a pure act of creation by the means of the unconscious which is expressed by the body. The Dolls of Paul Toupet seem to be out of time. This hybrid being would be involved in the formation of an intangible universe. Inanimate, almost eternal, it belongs to the uncanny but it is not devoid of a certain humor, even of a touch of burlesque. Dolls are spatial and temporal representations of the mores and folklore of a society.They materialise a certain conception of desire and phantasm.

Les êtres hybrides de Scott Radke
Scott Radke est né à Cleveland (Ohio) et a grandi dans la banlieue proche de Strongsville. Il a expérimenté différents médias artistiques et se concentre actuellement sur la création de sculptures hybrides mélangeant un sentiment d’innocence, et un autre sombre et austère.
En 1999, la popularité de ses sculptures lui a permis de quitter son travail abrutissant dans une usine pour poursuivre sa passion créative. Ses marionnettes ont été en vedette dans des films dont « Voices In My Head », documentaire de la BBC réalisé par David Malone, Desolation Sound, mettant en vedette Jennifer Beals, « God in the Machine » mettant en vedette Thomas Jay Ryan, et le clip « Birthday Massacre ».
Le travail de Radke a été publiés dans des revues, y compris Bizarre (Angleterre), le DPI (Taiwan). Il a présenté son travail à la BLK / MRKT Gallery (CA), M Modern Gallery (CA), Galerie Strychnin (Allemagne), etc… Radke vit actuellement à Cleveland, où il a créé des décors, des costumes et des masques pour la chorégraphe Sarah Morrison. Ils se sont mariés peu de temps après leur première collaboration créative, et ont eu une fille Isabella.
Scott Radke was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Strongsville. Radke has experimented with various media throughout his life and currently focuses on the creation of sculptural hybrid creatures with an extraordinarily, innocent, yet dark twist. In 1999 the popularity of his marionettes allowed him to leave his mind-numbing job at a bed-frame factory to pursue his creative passion on a full-time basis. His marionettes have been featured in films including Voices In My Head, a BBC documentary directed by David Malone; Desolation Sound, starring Jennifer Beals; God in the Machine, starring Thomas Jay Ryan; and Birthday Massacre’s music video, Blue. Radke’s work has been published internationally in magazines including Bizarre (England), DPI (Taiwan), Refused, and Skratch. *He has* shown his work at BLK/MRKT Gallery (CA), M Modern Gallery (CA), Strychnin Gallery (Germany), Jonathan Levine’s former Tin Man Alley (PA), and CB’s 313 (NYC) among others. Radke currently lives in Cleveland where he has created set designs, costumes, and masks for choreographer Sarah Morrison. “While all my figures are hand built porcelain, a strong element of my storytelling is the vintage found object. I come from a long line of pack-rats. My ancestors were farmers and nothing was thrown away that could be repurposed. As a child I would spend hours digging through my dad’s « treasures » and reinventing them into something new. It is not surprising that these elements became another narrative piece of my work. »
